A ZUGFeRD or Factur-X invoice is a hybrid document: a PDF to look at, with the structured invoice data additionally embedded as XML (CII per the European standard EN 16931). Accounting or ERP software can read that XML automatically, without retyping the figures from the PDF. But the embedded XML file has to be pulled out of the PDF first - and that is exactly what this tool does.

Drop the ZUGFeRD or Factur-X PDF; the tool searches the embedded files inside the PDF, finds the invoice XML (typically factur-x.xml or ZUGFeRD-invoice.xml) and returns it as an .xml file. If a PDF contains several XML attachments, you get each one. You can drop several PDFs at once. Everything runs locally in the browser - the invoice with its business data never leaves your device.

The tool pulls out exactly the XML that sits inside the PDF - it does not change or judge the invoice. If the PDF is not a hybrid e-invoice (i.e. has no embedded XML), a clear message tells you so instead of producing an empty file. It is an extractor, not a checking service: whether the XML conforms to EN 16931 in content is not something this tool decides - it only reads it out of the PDF 1:1.

    In 3 steps

    1. Drop a ZUGFeRD or Factur-X PDF (.pdf).
    2. The tool reads out the embedded invoice XML.
    3. Download the XML file.

Limitations: Extracts the CII XML embedded in a hybrid e-invoice (ZUGFeRD or Factur-X, a PDF/A-3) and outputs it as an .xml file; with several XML attachments, each one. UBL attachments (e.g. from an XRechnung-in-PDF) are extracted too, provided they are embedded as .xml. It is a pure extractor: it reads the existing XML out 1:1, does not change or validate it. If the PDF has no embedded XML, a clear message appears instead of output.

    FAQ

    Is my invoice uploaded?

No. The extraction runs entirely locally in the browser (pdf-lib, no server); the PDF with its business data never leaves your device.

    Which PDFs work?

Hybrid e-invoices: a PDF/A-3 with embedded CII XML (ZUGFeRD, Factur-X) or a UBL attachment. An ordinary PDF without embedded XML has nothing to extract.

    What happens without embedded XML?

You get a clear message that the PDF contains no embedded e-invoice XML - no empty or invented file is produced.

Does the tool check the invoice?

No. It is a pure extractor and reads the existing XML out unchanged. Whether the content conforms to EN 16931 is not something it judges.

Can I process several invoices at once?

Yes. Drop several PDFs at once; the embedded XML is extracted from each.
