The first click starts the clock; every further click or tap counts until time runs out. Everything runs locally in your browser: no account, no server, no transmission of your results.
What counts as a normal value? Unlike the reaction test, there is no publicly available, peer-reviewed comparison study on click speed that we know of - so this tool deliberately shows no computed percentage. Informal techniques like "jitter clicking" or "butterfly clicking" circulate in gaming communities and let some players reach higher numbers, but no solid published norms exist for them.

Are my results uploaded or stored?
Nothing is uploaded: the measurement runs entirely locally in your browser. Your best score, history (at most the last 50 runs) and streak are stored locally - you can export them as a JSON file or delete them with one click at any time. There is no account and no server leaderboard.
What is a good CPS value?
There is no scientifically reliable comparison scale for clicks per second that we know of - unlike the reaction test, we deliberately skip a percentage rather than invent one. The most meaningful comparison is against yourself over several runs, on the same device.
Why does my value differ from other devices?
Mouse, trackpad and touchscreen differ in their maximum click rate, and some systems filter extremely fast clicks out as "double-click errors". That is a property of your device, not a measurement flaw in this tool.
Can I train my click speed?
Within limits: technique (for example clicking with multiple fingers) and practice help a bit, but your baseline speed is strongly limited by fine motor control and your input device. Large, lasting jumps are unrealistic - treat this as a game, not a training programme.
Is this an aptitude or diagnostic test?
No. The CPS test is a fun click-speed benchmark, not a medical, psychological or aptitude test, and it makes no statement about dexterity or health.
How is this different from cps-test.org or other click-speed testers?
The measurement principle (click for 5 seconds, count clicks) is essentially the same for any CPS test. The difference is in the processing: here the count runs entirely in the browser, with no ad overlay and without your result ever going to a server - your history stays local on your device.
