Servers in GermanyGDPR by design
Origin servers at Hetzner in Germany. Since your files never leave your device, their contents are not transmitted at all.
Every photo carries invisible baggage: when you press the shutter, the camera or phone writes metadata into the file - often the exact GPS location, date and time, camera model and serial number, exposure values and sometimes even a name or copyright note. Anyone who posts or sends an image passes this data on without meaning to. This tool removes that metadata from JPG and PNG files before you share them.
Crucially, the removal is lossless. The image pixels are not recompressed but left untouched - the tool only cuts out the metadata sections (for JPEG the EXIF, XMP and IPTC segments, for PNG the text and eXIf blocks) and copies the rest byte for byte. So image quality is preserved exactly while the GPS position and the like disappear. By default the colour profile (ICC) is kept so colours look unchanged; on request you can remove that too for a maximally bare file.
You can drop several images at once and get them back cleaned individually; with multiple files there is a ZIP download. Everything runs locally in the browser - the photos never leave your device, which for private shots is exactly the point. Honestly framed: JPG and PNG are processed; convert other formats first. And removing metadata is not watermark or authorship protection but the opposite - it deletes traces of origin. If you want to mark images, use a watermark instead.

Limitations:Losslessly removes metadata from JPEG (EXIF/GPS, XMP, IPTC, comments) and PNG (tEXt/zTXt/iTXt, eXIf, tIME); the image pixels are not recompressed but kept byte-exact. The colour profile (ICC) is kept by default (optionally removable), structural and transparency data are always kept. JPG and PNG only - convert other formats first. Removes traces of origin, it is not authorship or copy protection.
FAQ
Which data is removed?
EXIF including GPS location, date, camera model/serial, exposure, plus XMP, IPTC and PNG text fields. Optionally the colour profile too.
Does the image lose quality?
No. The pixels are not recompressed; only the metadata sections are cut out, the rest stays byte-exact.
Do the colours stay the same?
Yes, the colour profile (ICC) is kept by default. Only if you explicitly remove it can the colour rendering change slightly.
Which formats are supported?
JPG/JPEG and PNG. Convert other formats first, e.g. with one of the image converters.
Are the images uploaded?
No, the removal happens entirely locally in the browser; the photos never leave your device.
