    Some recordings sound quiet, others clip loud - especially noticeable when several clips (e.g. podcast episodes or music tracks) play back to back. This tool evens out loudness locally to a chosen target in LUFS (EBU R128, the same standard streaming platforms and broadcasters themselves use).

    Three targets are offered: -14 LUFS (streaming-typical for Spotify/YouTube), -16 LUFS (common podcast standard) and -23 LUFS (EBU R128 broadcast norm, quieter with more dynamic headroom). The output format is freely selectable, same as the audio converter.

    Normalization runs as a single-pass filter (ffmpeg loudnorm) directly in the browser - no upload, no second measurement pass. That is slightly less precise than a two-pass approach (which fully measures the file before adjusting), but faster and without a duplicate decode pass.

    Limitations: Single-pass normalization (no two-pass measurement run) - on very erratic material (e.g. abrupt volume jumps) less precise than a studio two-pass tool, but accurate enough for most recordings. When normalizing several files in one run, the same target applies to EVERY file in the batch. If a single file fails (e.g. no audio track), the rest are still normalized; the failed file shows up as a short error text file in the result.

    No. A simple volume knob shifts everything equally; loudnorm measures perceived loudness and adjusts specifically toward it.

    Does normalization also work on a phone?

    Yes, in the mobile browser just like on desktop - only with very long files in a batch can a smartphone's limited memory hit a wall sooner.

    How is this different from Auphonic or Adobe Podcast?

    Both are good cloud tools, but they upload your audio file to a server for it. This normalization computes directly in the browser - no upload, no account, no queue.
