Trim video

Cut the start or end off a video locally - lossless, no re-encoding and no upload.

Start (s)
End (s)

Drag the handles or type seconds - the preview follows live. With a lossless cut the start point lands on the nearest preceding keyframe (often a few seconds earlier); the end point is frame-accurate.

If you only want to keep a portion of a video - a recording without its intro, an interview without the first few minutes of chit-chat - this tool cuts the start and/or end off without recomputing picture and sound. The remaining tracks are copied 1:1, just like the remux tool above, only with a time window instead of a new container.

Important and honest: the start point snaps to the nearest preceding keyframe - every 1-5 seconds for most video - because a lossless cut cannot begin mid-group-of-pictures without re-encoding. The actual start may therefore be a few seconds earlier than entered. The end point, however, is frame-accurate. Anyone who truly needs a frame-accurate cut from the very first millisecond needs a real re-encode - this tool deliberately does not offer that, to stay lossless and fast.

Everything runs locally in the browser with ffmpeg (self-hosted, no third-party CDN). Your video is not uploaded - the decisive difference for private recordings.

Other free online trimmers upload your video to a server, cap the length or number of exports on the free tier, or add a watermark. Here, trimming runs unlimited, free and without a watermark, because everything happens locally in the browser - on any device with a modern browser, from a Windows PC to a Chromebook.

Limitations: Cut only, no re-encoding: the start point snaps to the nearest preceding keyframe (not frame-accurate), the end point is frame-accurate. Picture and sound content stay unchanged. One file per run, ~1 GB limit (4 GB/tab in the browser). All audio and video tracks within the chosen time window are preserved.

FAQ

Is my video uploaded?

No. The whole trim happens locally in your browser - even in airplane mode.

Does the video lose quality?

No. Trimming copies the remaining tracks 1:1, nothing is recomputed - it is lossless.

Why does the video not start exactly at my start time?

The start point snaps to the nearest preceding keyframe so the cut stays lossless - typically 1-5 seconds earlier than entered. The end, however, is frame-accurate.

Can I make several cuts at once?

No. This tool cuts ONE contiguous time window per run. For several cuts, run the tool multiple times.

What happens without a start or end time?

If you leave one of the two fields at 0, that side is not cut - only the other end is. Both at 0 is not allowed.

Can I trim a video on my phone too?

Yes, in any current mobile browser just like on desktop - the video stays local on the device.

Is there a limit or a watermark?

No. No account, no watermark and no limit on the number of runs - only the file size is bounded by your device memory.

Is it safe to trim a private video online?

Yes. Unlike a server upload, your video never leaves your device here - try airplane mode, trimming keeps working.
