Sometimes a video should be completely silent - a screen recording without system sounds, a timelapse without wind noise, a clip that will later get its own music. This tool removes every audio track without recomputing the picture: the video track is copied 1:1, the audio track(s) are never even read.
Important and honest: ALL audio tracks are removed, not lowered in volume or selected individually. Chapter/subtitle tracks are not carried over either - only the video track remains. Anyone who wants to keep just one of several audio tracks needs a different tool.
Everything runs locally in the browser with ffmpeg (self-hosted, no third-party CDN). Your video is not uploaded - the decisive difference for private recordings.
Because only the video track is copied and no picture is recomputed, the removal is practically instant - even a long video is done in seconds, regardless of resolution, since nothing is re-encoded. The file size only drops by the share of the omitted audio track; the picture stays the same byte for byte. Anyone who instead wants to add their own soundtrack uses the replace-audio tool.
