Wrong title on the car stereo, "unknown artist" in the player, or an album that never sorts together: those are ID3 tags - the metadata at the start and end of an MP3 file. This tool rewrites them without touching the audio: the music stream is carried over byte for byte, there is no re-encoding and therefore no quality loss.

Empty fields keep the existing value - if you only want to fix the artist, you do not have to retype the rest. Embedded cover art and other unedited frames are preserved unchanged. The tool writes ID3v2.3 with UTF-16 text (umlauts and non-Latin scripts work) plus an ID3v1 trailer for legacy players; v2.2 and v2.4 tags are read too.

The "remove all tags" switch strips every bit of metadata instead (ID3v2 and ID3v1) - useful before passing on a recording whose tags reveal more than you would like. Several files can be processed as a batch; the entered values then apply to every file in the batch.

    In 3 steps

    1. Drop one or several MP3 files.
    2. Fill in the fields (empty fields stay unchanged) or choose "remove all tags".
    3. Start and download the tagged file.

Limitations: MP3 only (this tool is not meant for M4A/FLAC/OGG tags). Cover art is preserved but not editable (no cover upload). In a batch the same values apply to EVERY file - there is no per-file form, edit individually instead. Very rare special frames (compressed/encrypted, exotic v2.2 frames) may be dropped on rewrite; the usual tags and cover art survive.

    FAQ

    Is the MP3 re-encoded?

No. Only the metadata blocks are rewritten; the audio stream stays byte-for-byte identical - zero quality loss.

    Are files uploaded?

No, the rewrite happens entirely locally in the browser.

    Is the cover art kept?

Yes, embedded cover art is carried over unchanged. Embedding a new cover is not (yet) supported.

Do umlauts and other scripts work?

Yes. Text is written as UTF-16 in the ID3v2.3 tag - umlauts, Cyrillic, Japanese etc. stay correct.

What does "remove all tags" do?

It fully removes ID3v2 and ID3v1 - leaving the pure audio file without metadata. Handy before sharing.
