What does a trip cost in fuel? This calculator combines the distance, your vehicle's average consumption in litres per 100 kilometres and the current fuel price per litre. Out come the total cost of the trip, the litres used and - if several of you travel together - the share per person. So you can plan a commute, a holiday trip or a car pool with real numbers instead of a gut feeling.
The calculation runs entirely locally in your browser, in pure JavaScript - nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored. The litres used are the distance divided by 100 times the consumption, the cost is those litres times the fuel price, and the share per person is the cost divided by the number of people (at least one). Change an input and the cost, fuel used and share update instantly.
An honest note: real consumption varies with driving style, load, speed, air conditioning and route - the average value is an approximation. The calculator works just as well for diesel, petrol or the price per unit for electric cars, as long as consumption and price use the same unit. The amounts are shown in euros as an example; the maths applies to any currency.

In 3 steps
Enter the distance in kilometres and the average consumption.
Enter the fuel price per litre and the number of people.
Read off the cost, fuel used and share per person.
Limitations:An estimate from average consumption; real consumption varies with driving style, load, speed and route. Consumption and price must use the same unit (e.g. litres). People at least one. Amounts are in euros as an example - the maths applies to any currency.
FAQ
Are my inputs uploaded?
No. The calculation runs entirely locally in the browser (pure JavaScript); nothing is sent or stored.
How is the fuel cost calculated?
Litres used = distance / 100 times consumption (L/100 km); cost = litres times fuel price per litre.
Does it work for diesel or electric cars?
Yes, as long as consumption and price use the same unit - e.g. litres and price per litre, or kWh and price per kWh.
Why does it differ from my actual fill-up?
Real consumption varies with driving style, load, speed and route. The average value is an approximation.
