A corporation such as a GmbH or AG pays three taxes on its profit. Corporate income tax is a flat 15 percent of the taxable income (section 23 KStG). On top comes the solidarity surcharge of 5.5 percent of the corporate tax (i.e. 0.825 percent of the profit). Then there is trade tax: unlike sole traders, corporations get no allowance, and it is computed as the 3.5 percent base rate times the municipal multiplier. At a multiplier of 400 percent this gives a total burden of around 30 percent of the profit.

The calculation runs entirely locally in your browser, in pure JavaScript - nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored. From the taxable profit and the multiplier the calculator works out the three taxes individually and their sum. Corporate tax is 15 percent of the profit, the surcharge 5.5 percent of that, and trade tax 3.5 percent times the multiplier. The three amounts shown add up to the total tax. Change the profit or the multiplier and everything updates instantly.

An honest note: this is a model-based estimate of the tax burden on a GIVEN taxable profit, not tax advice. Not modelled are the trade-tax additions and deductions, a loss carry-forward, or taxation at the shareholder level: if the company distributes the profit, the shareholder additionally pays the flat capital-income tax (or the partial-income method). The corporate tax rate is still 15 percent in 2026; a staged reduction is planned only from 2028. Applies to Germany only. The tax office assessment is authoritative.

Limitations: A model-based estimate of a corporation tax burden on a GIVEN profit: corporate tax 15 percent + surcharge 5.5 percent of it + trade tax (3.5 percent times the multiplier, no allowance). Not modelled: additions/deductions, loss carry-forward, taxation of distributions at the shareholder. Corporate tax 2026 = 15 percent (reduction planned from 2028). Germany only. Not tax advice.

FAQ

Are my inputs uploaded?

No. The calculation runs entirely locally in the browser (pure JavaScript); nothing is sent or stored.

How high is corporate tax?

15 percent of the taxable income, plus a 5.5 percent solidarity surcharge on it - together 15.825 percent. Trade tax comes on top.

Why around 30 percent in total?

Corporate tax 15 percent plus surcharge plus trade tax (about 14 percent at a 400 percent multiplier) together come to around 29.8 percent of the profit.

Will corporate tax fall soon?

A staged reduction is planned from 2028. For 2026 the 15 percent rate still applies, which this calculator uses.

Is the distribution to shareholders included?

No. The calculator shows only the company tax. If the profit is distributed, the shareholder additionally pays the flat capital-income tax.
