BPJS is Indonesia's state social-security system with two agencies. BPJS Kesehatan (health insurance) costs a total of 5 percent of salary, split 4 percent employer and 1 percent employee, calculated on a salary capped at 12 million rupiah a month. BPJS Ketenagakerjaan bundles four programmes: JHT (Jaminan Hari Tua, old-age savings) at 3.7 percent employer plus 2 percent employee with no cap, JKM (Jaminan Kematian, death insurance) at 0.3 percent paid by the employer alone, JKK (Jaminan Kecelakaan Kerja, work-accident insurance) paid by the employer alone at one of five risk-class rates between 0.24 and 1.74 percent, and JP (Jaminan Pensiun, pension insurance) at 2 percent employer plus 1 percent employee on a separately capped salary.

The calculation runs entirely locally in your browser, in pure JavaScript - nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored. From the monthly salary and the chosen JKK risk class, the calculator works out each contribution individually (applying the respective salary caps for Kesehatan and JP) and sums the employer and employee shares separately. It shows the combined total, the employee share, the employer share and the net salary after the employee share is deducted - instantly on every input.

An honest note: the JP salary ceiling is typically re-adjusted by the government most years; the value used here is the last known figure and should be checked before a real payroll run. PPh 21 income tax is NOT included - see the separate PPh 21 calculator for that. Voluntary programmes (JKP, supplementary insurance) are not modelled. This is not legal or tax advice and applies to Indonesia only.

Limitations: A model-based estimate of BPJS Kesehatan (5 percent, capped at 12 million rupiah/month) and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan contributions (JHT 5.7 percent uncapped, JKM 0.3 percent, JKK by risk class, JP 3 percent capped) from a GIVEN monthly salary. The JP ceiling is typically re-adjusted most years and should be checked before payroll runs. Not included: PPh 21 income tax, voluntary supplementary programmes. Indonesia only. Not tax or legal advice.

FAQ

Are my inputs uploaded?

No. The calculation runs entirely locally in the browser (pure JavaScript); nothing is sent or stored.

What is the difference between BPJS Kesehatan and Ketenagakerjaan?

Kesehatan is health insurance. Ketenagakerjaan bundles old-age savings (JHT), death (JKM), work-accident (JKK) and pension (JP) insurance.

Which risk class should I choose?

The class BPJS Ketenagakerjaan has assigned your employer based on industry - a typical office role is usually class I or II.

Is PPh 21 included in this calculator?

No. Use the separate PPh 21 calculator for that.

Why is there a salary cap for Kesehatan and JP?

Both contributions are calculated only up to a statutory maximum salary - if you earn more, the contribution stays constant beyond that threshold.
