A Roth IRA is a US individual retirement account funded with already-taxed money - in exchange, both the growth and the later retirement withdrawals are tax-free (once the usual holding-period and age rules are met). This calculator projects the growth from regular annual contributions and compound interest.

The calculation runs entirely locally in your browser, in pure JavaScript - nothing is uploaded or stored. The annual contribution is spread evenly across twelve months and grows, together with the starting balance, at the expected return. It shows the final balance, total contributions and the growth.

An honest note: this is a model-based projection, not investment advice or a guarantee. It assumes a constant, smooth return - real markets fluctuate. The IRS contribution limit (2025 confirmed: $7,000, plus a $1,000 catch-up from age 50) and the income limits above which a Roth IRA can no longer be contributed to directly are not enforced as a hard rule here.

FAQ

Does my balance leave my device?

No, the entire calculation runs locally in your browser - nothing is uploaded or stored.

Is the growth really tax-free?

Yes, once the usual five-year and age rules are met - unlike a traditional 401(k), no tax applies to the growth or the retirement withdrawal.

What is the IRS contribution limit?

Confirmed for 2025: $7,000, plus a $1,000 catch-up from age 50. Check the current year's actual limit yourself.

Are there income limits?

Yes, above certain income levels a direct Roth IRA contribution is no longer allowed - this calculator does not check that.

Is the return guaranteed?

No, the calculator assumes a constant average return - real investments fluctuate yearly, including downward.
