Clicking "Start recording" makes your OWN browser - through its own trusted dialog - ask whether this page may access your microphone and (if you have more than one) which. This page never sees that dialog and cannot bypass it - the decision is the browser's and yours. Declining the prompt is a normal, expected outcome - not an error, just a message with the option to try again.
Recording runs entirely locally: every audio chunk lands directly in your browser's own memory, never on a foreign server. When you stop the recording, the tool assembles the chunks into a WebM file (Opus audio) you download directly and can preview beforehand.
