Limitations: ICO icons are at most 256 px (the ICO format stores the size per entry in just 1 byte; a value of 0 means 256 - the format does not provide for anything larger). A PNG smaller than the chosen size is upscaled and may look blurry. A square PNG works best. Embedded metadata such as capture date, camera and GPS location does not survive the re-encode - only the image orientation is baked into the pixels beforehand.
