Under Turkish Labour Law No. 1475 art. 14, an employee with a legally recognised termination reason (among others: dismissal by the employer without just cause, resignation for military service, a female employee's marriage, retirement) receives 30 days of "giydirilmiş" (dressed) gross wage as severance per full year of service - the base wage plus regular, money-valued benefits. Partial years count proportionally.
This amount is capped per year by a statutory tavan (ceiling), reset every half-year in step with the civil-servant salary coefficient - for the second half of 2026 it stands at 73,729.87 lira. Within the ceiling, severance pay is exempt from income tax and SGK; only the stamp tax (Damga Vergisi, 0.759 per mille) is withheld. Amounts above the ceiling are treated as ordinary taxable wage. The calculation runs locally in your browser as plain JavaScript.
An honest note: this calculator does NOT check whether a severance claim actually exists in your case (at least one full year of service AND a legally recognised termination reason are preconditions) - it only computes the amount assuming a claim already exists. Not legal advice.

In 3 steps
Enter the monthly gross wage (incl. regular benefits).
Enter the years of service.
Choose the period (H1 or H2 2026).
Read off gross severance, stamp tax and the net amount.
Limitations: A model-based calculation under Labour Law No. 1475 art. 14 - the amount assuming an existing severance claim, no eligibility check. Uses the 2026 ceiling of the chosen half-year. Not modelled: amounts above the ceiling from a collective agreement, late-payment interest. Turkey only. Not legal or tax advice.
FAQ
Are my inputs uploaded?
No. The calculation runs entirely locally in the browser; nothing is sent or stored.
Do I automatically qualify for kıdem tazminatı?
No. At least one full year of service AND a legally recognised termination reason are required - this calculator does not check that, it only computes the amount.
Why does the ceiling change in July?
The ceiling is tied to the civil-servant salary coefficient, adjusted on 1 January and 1 July - so 2026 has two different values.
Is severance pay taxed?
Within the ceiling, only with stamp tax (0.759 per mille) - no income tax, no SGK. Amounts above the ceiling count as ordinary, taxable wage.
