Which product is really cheaper? The larger pack is not automatically the better deal. What matters is the unit price - the price per unit, that is per kilogram, per litre or per piece. This calculator takes the price and amount of two products, converts both to the same unit price and shows directly which is cheaper and what percentage you save with the cheaper choice.
The calculation runs entirely locally in your browser, in pure JavaScript - nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored. The unit price is the price divided by the amount. The only thing that matters is that you use the same unit for both products - for example both in kilograms or both in litres. The saving is the difference between the two unit prices relative to the dearer one. Example: 2.50 euros for one kilogram is 2.50 per kilogram, 3.60 euros for one and a half kilograms is 2.40 per kilogram - the second product is about four percent cheaper.
An honest note: the unit price only tells you about the price per unit, not about quality, shelf life or whether you will use the larger amount at all. Make sure to enter both amounts in the same unit, otherwise you compare apples with oranges. The amounts are shown in euros as an example; the maths applies to any currency.

FAQ
Are my inputs uploaded?
No. The calculation runs entirely locally in the browser (pure JavaScript); nothing is sent or stored.
What is the unit price?
The price per unit, that is per kilogram, per litre or per piece. It makes products of different size directly comparable.
Do I have to use the same unit?
Yes. Enter both amounts in the same unit (both in kilograms or both in litres), otherwise the unit prices are not comparable.
Is the larger pack always cheaper?
No. Often, but not always - sometimes the smaller pack on offer is cheaper per unit. That is exactly what the unit-price comparison shows.
