A 40-minute recording as WAV, or an uncompressed voice memo, can easily weigh several hundred megabytes - too large for most email attachments and many messenger uploads. This tool is deliberately built for exactly ONE job: make the file as small as possible, without overloading you with format variety or loudness fine-tuning.
Three bitrate tiers are offered, from "very small" (usable for speech only) to "higher quality" (still noticeably smaller than the original, but with more sonic headroom). The chosen bitrate directly drives the output size: halve it and the output roughly halves too. Unlike a pure format change (say WAV to MP3), the focus here is explicitly on size, not on a new container for a particular target device.
As with every gottrix tool, compression runs entirely in the browser via ffmpeg.wasm - the recording never leaves your device, no matter how confidential it is. Several files in one batch are all compressed to the same bitrate and, with more than one file, downloaded together as a ZIP.

Limitations: Compression is lossy - the lower the bitrate, the more audible the quality loss on music (barely noticeable for plain speech). There is no target-file-size mode (e.g. "under 5 MB") - only a fixed bitrate per run; if you need an exact target size, try the next-smaller tier. If one file in a batch fails, the rest are still compressed.
