What do you earn per hour? From your gross monthly salary and the contracted weekly hours this calculator works out the hourly wage - plus the average monthly hours and the annual salary. That lets you compare job offers with different working hours or check whether part-time, overtime or a change is worth it.
The calculation runs entirely locally in your browser, in pure JavaScript - nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored. A month has on average 52 divided by 12 weeks, about 4.33; the monthly hours are the weekly hours times that factor. The hourly wage is the monthly salary divided by the monthly hours, the annual salary is the monthly salary times twelve. Change an input and everything updates instantly.
An honest note: this is the gross hourly wage before tax and social contributions. What is left net depends on your tax bracket, health insurance and other deductions and is not included here. Holidays, public holidays, paid breaks or overtime premiums are not accounted for separately. The amounts are shown in euros as an example; the maths applies to any currency.
Especially useful for comparing unequal offers: two jobs with the same monthly salary but 40 versus 35 weekly hours differ in hourly wage by about 14 percent. It is worth a look for part-time too - lower the weekly hours with a proportionally reduced salary and the hourly wage stays the same; keep the salary higher and it rises. That shows what an hour of your time is really worth.
