Thailand counts years not only by the Gregorian calendar but also officially by the Buddhist Era (B.E.) - year 1 B.E. is the year of the Buddha's death, 543 BCE in Gregorian terms. Official documents, ID cards, newspapers and contracts in Thailand therefore mostly carry the B.E. year instead of the Gregorian year number. This tool converts in both directions: from a Gregorian date to the matching Thai date, and from a Thai year, month and day to the Gregorian date.
The conversion runs entirely locally in your browser, in pure JavaScript - nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored. For today's civil calendar (from 1941 onward), the conversion is a simple, exact shift: the B.E. year equals the Gregorian year plus 543, with the month and day unchanged - so both directions compute without an era table or a search.
An honest note: until the 1941 calendar reform, the Thai year began on 1 April instead of 1 January, so the B.E. year for dates before 1941 does not always match the simple shift. This tool is therefore limited to the modern civil calendar from Gregorian year 1941 (B.E. 2484) onward, and honestly reports an earlier year as out of scope instead of showing a possibly wrong conversion.

In 3 steps
Choose whether a Gregorian date or a Thai (B.E.) date is being entered.
Enter the date, or the Thai year, month and day.
Read off the Gregorian date, the Thai date and the weekday; the result updates instantly.
Limitations: Covers the modern civil calendar from Gregorian year 1941 (B.E. 2484) onward - a simple, exact 543-year shift. Before the 1941 calendar reform, the year began on 1 April; this tool is not intended for those earlier dates and honestly reports an earlier year as out of scope.
FAQ
Are my inputs uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely locally in the browser (pure JavaScript); nothing is sent or stored.
How is the B.E. year converted?
The B.E. year equals the Gregorian year plus 543. The other way round: the Gregorian year equals the B.E. year minus 543.
Why is B.E. 543 years ahead?
Because year 1 B.E. is the year of the Buddha's death, 543 BCE - so the B.E. year is always 543 years ahead of the Gregorian year.
Does the conversion also apply before 1941?
No. Until 1941 the Thai year began on 1 April; this tool is not intended for that - it covers today's civil calendar from 1941 onward.
Where do I encounter the B.E. year in everyday life?
On Thai ID cards, official documents, newspapers and packaging dates - these usually show the B.E. year instead of the Gregorian number.
