Everything happens locally in the browser: the page is only rendered for display, the finished PDF is produced with pdf-lib - nothing is uploaded, precisely the key point for confidential documents. Honestly placed, though, a watermark stays a visible marking, not a protection mechanism: it signals status or origin and deters careless forwarding, but it can be removed again with effort and encrypts nothing. If the content should truly be locked, a password via “Protect PDF” belongs with it. The tiled layout makes a clean removal harder, while the freely placed one stays more discreet and barely disturbs reading.
