    Is my file uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser - your file never leaves your device. How this is verifiable

Headers and footers organise a document: a case number at the top, a note like "Confidential" or a page reference at the bottom. This tool stamps your text onto every page - into the header (top) and the footer (bottom). The placeholders {n} and {total} are replaced per page by the current number and the total, so "Page {n} of {total}" automatically becomes "Page 3 of 12".

As you type, the preview shows the real page with your header/footer exactly where it will end up - no guessing from blind text fields. Additionally you can enable Bates numbering: a sequential, unique number per page, common in law firms and evidence management. Give a prefix (e.g. "DOC-") and the number of digits; the tool then numbers DOC-0001, DOC-0002 and so on - each at the bottom right of the page, also visible live. Without a prefix, Bates numbering stays off.

Everything runs locally in the browser via pdf-lib. Honestly framed: the text is set in the standard Helvetica font (Latin characters); existing page content is preserved, the labelling is only stamped on top. Header, footer and Bates have fixed margin positions - only the preview is live, not a freely draggable text.

Limitations: Stamps a header (top left) and footer (bottom left) with the {n}/{total} placeholders plus an optional Bates number (bottom right, prefix + leading zeros, starting at 1) onto every page. FAQ

What do {n} and {total} mean?

{n} is the current page number, {total} the total number of pages. So "Page {n} of {total}" automatically becomes "Page 1 of 10".

Can I see the result beforehand?

Yes, the preview shows your real page with header/footer and Bates number live as you type.

    What is Bates numbering?

A sequential, unique identifier per page (prefix + counter with leading zeros), common in law firms and evidence management. It is only added when you give a prefix.

Are umlauts or non-Latin characters rendered?

The labelling uses the standard Helvetica font (Latin); non-Latin characters are omitted.

    Is the PDF uploaded?

No, the labelling happens entirely locally in the browser.
