How much does an appliance cost to run? This calculator combines the power in watts, the daily usage in hours and the electricity price per kilowatt-hour. Out come the electricity cost per day, per month and per year. So you find out what a fridge, fan heater, PC, aquarium or standby really costs - and where saving pays off.
The calculation runs entirely locally in your browser, in pure JavaScript - nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored. The daily usage is the power divided by 1000 times the hours (in kilowatt-hours), the daily cost is that usage times the price. The yearly cost is the daily cost times 365, the monthly cost a twelfth of that. Change an input and all three values update instantly.
An honest note: this is an estimate at constant daily usage and a fixed price. Appliances with variable power (fridges cycle, heaters modulate) really use a different amount - in that case take the yearly consumption from the energy label and convert it into watts times hours. The amounts are shown in euros as an example; the maths applies to any currency.

Limitations: An estimate at constant daily usage and a fixed price. Appliances with variable power really use a different amount; in that case use the yearly consumption from the energy label. Usage is capped at 24 hours per day. Year = day times 365, month = year / 12. Amounts are in euros as an example - the maths applies to any currency.

Daily usage = power / 1000 times hours (kWh); daily cost = usage times price; year = day times 365, month = year / 12.
On the appliance's rating plate or in the data sheet. For variable power, use the yearly consumption (kWh) from the energy label.
The calculation assumes constant usage. Real appliances cycle or modulate, and the electricity price may include other components.
