Every full 12-month employment cycle accrues 30 days of paid vacation in Brazil, reduced proportionally for a partial cycle (2.5 days per month, with at least 15 days worked counting as a full month). Every vacation day carries the constitutional one-third bonus on top (Art. 7 XVII of the Constitution). Up to one-third of the accrued days (a maximum of 10 of 30) can be sold for cash instead of taken as leave - an abono pecuniário - and those sold days carry their own one-third bonus too.

The calculation runs entirely locally in your browser, in pure JavaScript - nothing is uploaded or stored. The days sold are automatically capped at one-third of the accrued vacation days; the remaining days are the ones actually taken and paid out. The constitutional one-third is calculated on the sum of the taken and sold days.

An honest note: this is a model-based estimate, not an official vacation-pay statement. The amounts are gross figures - INSS and IRRF on the vacation pay itself are not deducted (the constitutional one-third has been exempt from INSS since a 2020 Supreme Court ruling, but remains subject to IRRF; the regular vacation pay is subject to both). This difference in tax treatment is not modeled here.

An additional one-third of the vacation pay that the Brazilian Constitution (Art. 7 XVII) guarantees for every vacation day - including sold days.

At most one-third of the accrued days - for a full year, that is a maximum of 10 of 30 days (Art. 143 CLT).

What happens with fewer than 12 months worked?

The vacation entitlement is reduced proportionally - 2.5 days per full month (from 15 days worked).

Are INSS and IRRF included in the result?

No, the amounts shown are gross figures - see the limitations for the actual tax treatment.
